Activated Carbon Block Filter Cartridges
Carbon block filter cartridges combine highly effective particulate filtration with the adsorption capabilities of activated carbon. Manufactured from finely powdered activated carbon bonded into a rigid block structure, they are widely used for the reduction of chlorine, odour, colour, taste, and a broad range of organic contaminants.
About this product
Carbon block filter cartridges offer several advantages over traditional granular activated carbon (GAC) filters. The rigid carbon block structure provides a more uniform flow path through the media, maximising contact time and improving contaminant reduction efficiency.
Unlike granular activated carbon filters, carbon block cartridges minimise carbon fines and powder release during operation. They also eliminate the risk of media settlement within the cartridge, which can create bypass channels and reduce filtration performance over time.
In addition to their excellent adsorption capabilities, carbon block cartridges provide fine particulate filtration, allowing the simultaneous reduction of suspended particles and dissolved contaminants within a single filtration stage.
To maximise service life and adsorption capacity, carbon block cartridges are often installed downstream of a particulate pre-filter, such as a meltblown cartridge or filter bag. This prevents premature blockage by suspended solids and ensures the activated carbon is used primarily for contaminant adsorption rather than particle removal
The combination of high adsorption efficiency, low carbon fines release, and reliable filtration performance makes carbon block cartridges an ideal choice for demanding water treatment and process filtration applications.
