Suitable for a wide range of liquids

Plastic filter housings are suitable for the filtration of water, process fluids, chemicals, acids, alkalis, and other corrosive media. Their excellent chemical resistance makes them particularly well suited to applications where metallic materials may be unsuitable or uneconomical.

They are widely used in industries such as chemical processing, water treatment, surface treatment, metal finishing, and a variety of industrial manufacturing processes where reliable and corrosion-resistant filtration is required.

Plastic Materials, Pressure ratings, and Temperature ranges

Our plastic cartridge filter housings and bag filter housings are available in a range of materials, allowing the most suitable option to be selected based on process conditions and chemical compatibility requirements.

Polypropylene (PP)
Offers excellent chemical resistance to many acids, alkalis, and process chemicals. Lightweight, durable, and cost-effective, polypropylene is widely used in water treatment, chemical processing, and general industrial applications.

Polyethylene (PE)
Provides excellent toughness and impact resistance, even at lower temperatures. Polyethylene is particularly suitable for applications where mechanical durability and long-term reliability are important.

SAN (Styrene Acrylonitrile)
Combines good mechanical strength with excellent transparency, allowing visual inspection of contamination levels and filter condition without opening the filter housing. This can simplify maintenance and help optimise filter replacement intervals.

PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride)
Offers outstanding chemical resistance and excellent thermal stability. PVDF is commonly used in demanding chemical, pharmaceutical, and high-purity applications where aggressive media and material purity are critical.

Depending on the material and housing design, plastic filter housings are typically suitable for operating pressures of approximately 6–10 bar and temperatures up to 90–120°C. Custom-engineered solutions are also available for specific process conditions, media compatibility requirements, and operating parameters.

Material overview

Material Chemical Resistance Temperature Range* Typical Applications
PP Excellent resistance to acids and alkalis Up to approx. 90–100°C Water treatment, chemical processing
PE Good chemical resistance, high impact strength Up to approx. 80–90°C Applications subject to mechanical stress
SAN Good resistance to mildly aggressive chemicals Up to approx. 70–80°C Water filtration, visual inspection applications
PVDF Outstanding resistance to aggressive chemicals Up to approx. 120°C Chemical processing, high-purity applications

* Indicative values only. Actual pressure and temperature limits depend on the housing design, material grade, process conditions, and chemical compatibility.

Connections, Closures, Venting, and Drains

Plastic cartridge filter housings and bag filter housings are available with a variety of connection options, including threaded and flanged connections in different sizes and configurations. Customer-specific connection designs are also available to suit individual process requirements.

Depending on the housing design, units can be equipped with either screw-top lids or quick-opening clamp closures to facilitate safe and efficient maintenance and filter replacement.

To support safe and effective operation, housings can also be fitted with vent and drain connections. These features simplify filling, venting, draining, cleaning, and maintenance procedures while helping to improve process safety and operational efficiency.

Compliance with laws and regulations

All plastic cartridge filter housings and bag filter housings are manufactured in accordance with applicable legislation, standards, and industry requirements, as well as relevant material and certification standards where applicable.

This ensures that your filtration system meets the required safety, quality, and regulatory requirements for reliable operation in demanding industrial environments.
