Wound Filter Cartridges
Wound filter cartridges are depth filters designed to provide a high dirt-holding capacity. They are manufactured by precisely winding filtration yarn around a central core, creating a graded filtration structure capable of capturing contaminants throughout the depth of the media.
Due to their robust construction, broad chemical compatibility, and cost-effective performance, wound filter cartridges have been widely used in industrial filtration applications for decades.
About this product
Wound filter cartridges are available in a wide range of materials, including cotton, polypropylene, polyester, PPS, nylon, and baked glass fibre. This extensive choice of filter media enables their use across a broad spectrum of applications, from the filtration of aggressive acids and alkalis to high-temperature processes operating at temperatures of up to 340°C.
These nominal-rated filter cartridges are manufactured by precisely winding filtration yarn around a rigid support core. The filtration rating is determined by the winding pattern and yarn density, allowing cartridges to be produced with a range of retention characteristics to suit different applications.
Depending on the process conditions, the support core can be manufactured from polypropylene, polyester, stainless steel 304, or stainless steel 316 to provide the required level of chemical resistance and temperature stability.
The maximum operating temperature of a wound filter cartridge depends on the combination of filter media and core material selected.
The maximum temperature of wound filter cartridges depends on the material:
- Polypropylene up to 80°C (max. 0.5 bar ΔP)
- Polyester up to 120°C
- Nylon up to 135°C
- Cotton up to 120°C (on stainless steel core)
- Baked fiberglass up to 340°C
Maximum recommended differential pressure (ΔP):
- 2.0 – 2.5 bar ΔP
Wound filter cartridges are available in the following range of lengths:
- 5 inch tot 60 inch
The selectivity, or micron rating, ranges from:
- 1 µm tot 100 µm
Standard wound filter cartridges are manufactured with an outer diameter of 63 mm. Other custom diameters are available including Big Blue size at 115mm.
Wound filter cartridges can be supplied with virtually all common end connection configurations, including both Double open end (DOE) and Single open end (SOE) designs.
