Bag Filter Housings
Bag filter housings are designed for the efficient and cost-effective filtration of liquids in industrial processes. Suitable for both single-bag and multi-bag configurations, they offer high dirt-holding capacity, reliable operation, and economical filtration for a wide range of applications.
Suitable for a wide range of liquids
Bag filter housings are suitable for a wide variety of liquids, including water, process fluids, chemicals, oils, fuels, and food or pharmaceutical products. Selecting the appropriate housing material and seal configuration ensures optimum chemical compatibility, reliable operation, and a long service life.
Materials, Pressure ratings, and Temperature ranges
Bag filter housings are available in a range of materials, including stainless steel 304, stainless steel 316L, polypropylene (PP), PVDF, and other specialist materials for aggressive process media.
Standard stainless steel housings are suitable for operating pressures up to approximately 16 bar and temperatures up to 200°C, depending on the design and sealing materials used. Plastic housings are typically intended for lower pressure and temperature applications.
For demanding process conditions involving elevated pressures, temperatures, or aggressive chemicals, custom-engineered housing solutions are also available. Please contact our filtration specialists to discuss your specific requirements.
Connections, Closures, Venting, and Drains
Our bag filter housings are available with a wide range of connection options, including threaded and flanged connections in various sizes and configurations. For hygienic applications within the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, Tri-Clamp and dairy (milk) couplings are also available.
Depending on the housing design, units can be equipped with either quick-opening clamp closures or bolted closures to facilitate safe and efficient maintenance and filter bag replacement.
To support safe and effective operation, bag filter housings can also be fitted with vent and drain connections. These features simplify filling, venting, draining, cleaning, and maintenance procedures while helping to improve process safety and operational efficiency.
Single and Multi-bag housings
Our bag filter housings are available in both single-bag and multi-bag configurations. Multi-bag housings accommodate multiple filter bags within a single housing, providing a larger filtration area, increased dirt-holding capacity, and higher flow handling capability.
These systems are particularly well suited to applications with elevated flow rates, high contaminant loads, and continuous industrial processes where maximising service intervals and minimising downtime are important considerations.
The filter surface area of a filter bag influences the maximum flow rate, dirt-holding capacity, and service life of the bag filter housing. By selecting the appropriate filter bag size, the filtration system can be optimised for the process requirements.
- Size 1 filter bags provide a filtration area of approximately 0.25 m² and are suitable for compact installations and lower flow rates.
- Size 2 filter bags provide a filtration area of approximately 0.50 m² and are commonly used for medium to high flow rates and average contaminant loads.
- Size 3 filter bags provide a filtration area of approximately 0.07 m² and are typically used in compact systems where installation space is limited.
- Size 4 filter bags provide a filtration area of approximately 0.12 m² and offer increased filtration area within a compact housing design.
By installing multiple filter bags within a single bag filter housing, the total filtration area can be increased significantly, allowing the system to be tailored to the required flow rate and contaminant loading.
